### Funding news

- Norrsken VC participated in a $10M Series A round raised by US-based personal carbon-cutting app [Joro](https://www.joro.app/) ([English](https://techcrunch.com/2022/10/27/personal-carbon-cutting-app-joro-raises-10m-series-a-from-sequoia-jay-zs-arrive/)). The startup is on the Norrsken Foundation's recently published [Impact 100 list](https://www.norrsken.org/impact100).

### News from Swedish startups, the tech sector and VCs

- [Instabox](https://instabox.io) and [Budbee](https://budbee.com/) got the green light for their planned merger from the Swedish Competition Authority ([Swedish](https://www.dagensjuridik.se/nyheter/sammanslagningen-mellan-budbee-och-instabox-far-gront-ljus/), [machine translation](https://www-dagensjuridik-se.translate.goog/nyheter/sammanslagningen-mellan-budbee-och-instabox-far-gront-ljus/?%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fsl=auto&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Ftl=en&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fhl=en&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fpto=wapp)). It also looks as if the soon-to-be-named company Instabee might have bought the [instabee.com](http://www.instabee.com) domain from an India-based startup of the same name. Its previous website ([archive.org snapshot from July](http://web.archive.org/web/20220625184551/https://www.instabee.com/)) has recently vanished. Currently the domain leads nowhere.
- Judging from teasers shared on social media, Stockholm-based language learning startup [Astrid](https://www.astrideducation.com/) is expanding its scope. It moves from being an AI-powered voice-based English learning solution focused on kids and teens, towards a much broader user group. The promise of the company's newly launched iOS/Android app: to speak English "confidently in no time". The solution for kids/teens is now called Astrid Junior ([English](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/astrid-education%5Fnews-activity-6990982107586035712-VTYx/)).
- [Ovulai](https://www.ovulai.com/), Stockholm-based digital health coach for women with menstrual related issues and PCOS, launched its iPhone app (Swedish only for now) ([English](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/ovulai%5Fovulai-pcos-pcosapp-activity-6991011894123720705-xPap/)).
- [Radinn](https://www.radinn.com/), Malmö-based maker of electric boards for water sports, announced that its X-Sport board is now authorized for rental purposes, "making it the first rental-approved, warranty-backed jetboard in the industry". The company says it has developed a "plug ’n play business model" for tourism and watersport markets ([English](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/radinn%5Frental-activity-6991082589251895296-8kJg/)).
- Swedish investment company [byWiT](https://bywit.se/), which invests in "digital challengers", has secured over SEK300M (€28M, $28M) in its annual new share issue, with a goal of raising another SEK100M before the first quarter of 2023 ([English](https://bywit.se/news/bywit-secures-over-300-msek-in-our-annual-new-share-issue/), [Swedish](https://finanstid.se/investmentbolaget-bywit-tar-in-drygt-300-miljoner-kronor-i-nyemission/)).
