### News from Swedish startups, the tech sector and VCs

- The team behind Stockholm-based code collaboration system [Sturdy](https://getsturdy.com/) has pivoted and launched the AI-powered code review solution [Codeball](https://codeball.ai/). Founder Gustav Westling says that they stumbled upon this idea while experimenting, and saw such a huge potential in an AI-solution that can recognize risky code changes, that they decided to launch it as a separate product. This also means that Sturdy won't be actively developed any further (exclusive).
- [Ankra](https://www.ankra.io/), [Reeler](https://www.reelertech.com/) and [Swiftly](https://www.swiftly.one/) are the 3 Sweden-based startups that were accepted to the first class of the international accelerator [Techstars' new Stockholm program](https://www.techstars.com/accelerators/stockholm). A total of 12 teams are part of the class. All receive an investment of $120K ([English](https://www.linkedin.com/posts/ingelstedt%5Fgivefirst-techstars-winasateam-activity-6982674122396831744-vwbW)).
- [Akribian](https://akribian.com/), Lund-based developer of gamified learning solutions, has reportedly filed for bankruptcy ([Swedish](https://www.di.se/digital/svenskt-mattespel-gar-i-konkurs/), [machine translation](https://www-di-se.translate.goog/digital/svenskt-mattespel-gar-i-konkurs/?%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fsl=auto&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Ftl=en&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fhl=en&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fpto=wapp)).
- Swedish pay-as-you-go content service [Sesamy](https://sesamy.com/) launched its system for letting publishers sell articles on a one-off basis, with Breakit being the first outlet to try it ([English](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6982632020224954368/?utm%5Fsource=share&utm%5Fmedium=member%5Fdesktop), [Swedish](https://www.breakit.se/artikel/34527/nu-kan-du-kopa-enskilda-artiklar-breakit-lanserar-ny-betallosning-tillsammans-med-sesamy)).
- Stockholm-headquartered renewable energy developer [OX2](https://www.ox2.com/) has signed letters of intent with Swedish edible seaweed companies [Nordic SeaFarm](https://en.nordicseafarm.com/) and [KOBB](https://kobb.nu/) to explore the possibility of seaweed farming at offshore wind farms ([English](https://electrek.co/2022/09/30/offshore-wind-seaweed-farms/)).
- During September 2022, Swedish startups and scaleups raised around SEK2B (€180M, $180). This is the lowest amount for any month this year, largely due to the absence of "mega rounds" ([Swedish](https://www.di.se/digital/investeringar-i-techsektorn-noterar-arslagsta-i-september/), [machine translation](https://www-di-se.translate.goog/digital/investeringar-i-techsektorn-noterar-arslagsta-i-september/?%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fsl=auto&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Ftl=en&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fhl=en&%5Fx%5Ftr%5Fpto=wapp)).
- Since early 2022, VOI co-founder Adam Jafer is angel investing in (very) early stage startups on behalf of Sequoia as "Scout", while still active in an operational role at VOI as tech lead. So far he has made 10 investments, but only 1 in Sweden ([Dework](https://www.swedishtechnews.com/news-june-1-2022/)) ([Swedish](https://www.breakit.se/artikel/34518/okanda-voi-grundaren-adam-jafer-har-blivit-sequoia-investerare-riktigt-bra-lage-att-satsa-pa-web3-nu) / *Breakit paywall*).
