Funding news

  • Medoma (Stockholm, tech-enabled hospital level in-home acute care): €6M ($6M) in a seed round led by Inventure alongside Bonnier Ventures, with participation from VNV Global, Biovestor, Segulah and Cherry Ventures (English, Swedish).
  • GLOBHE (Stockholm, drone data platform): SEK20M (€1.9M, $1.9M) in a seed round led by Course Corrected, with participation from existing investors VEQ and Sustainable Energy Angels (English, Swedish).
  • Norrsken VC participated in a €4.2M($4.2M) funding round raised by German carbon credits marketplace CEEZEER (English).

News from Swedish startups, the tech sector and VCs

  • 22 Swedish companies have been selected by Sting to participate in the fall startup programs. There's a heavy presence of deeptech and a high percentage of female founders (Swedish, machine translation).
  • Gothenburg-based Eliq is one of the winners of Europe's current energy crisis. Eliq offers a SaaS white-label solution for utility companies to transform themselves into modern energy services providers. The startup founded in 2015 is currently overwhelmed with inquiries and unable to meet demand, says co-founder Joakim Ottander. After having raised SEK50M in 2020, Eliq plans to raise a Series B next year (Swedish / DI Digital paywall).
  • Breakit ranked 248 tech companies based on the average salary paid to employees in Sweden in 2021. The article is paywalled but here's the entire ranking. Across all companies, the average monthly salary was SEK49,425, up 7% compared to 2020 (Swedish / Breakit paywall).
  • Anna Bäck plans to step down as CEO of Sweden's leading digital mailbox service Kivra within 1 year. The company is now starting to look for a successor (Swedish, machine translation).
  • Industrifonden recruited Karolina Bjurehed as new Gothenburg-based investment director (English).

  • Union Square Ventures' influential partner Fred Wilson is advocating for a return to a fundraising and recruiting process in which at least one in-person-meeting is the norm (English).
