Mergers & acquisitions

  • Epidemic Sound (Stockholm, music licensing provider for creators, founded 2009) acquires the Norwegian industry peer Soundly, which is specialized in sound effects. The acquisition is paid with newly issued Epidemic Sound stock worth SEK27.2M (€2.4M, $2.6M). It's not clear whether the deal also includes a cash portion. The Swedish company is being valuated at SEK12.1B in this transaction, the same as in early 2021 (Swedish / Di Digital paywall).
  • PixelFox, a publicly traded Swedish operator, developer and acquirer of e-commerce businesses formerly known as Partytajm International, acquires the Italian startup Userdesk, which provides AI-powered automatic support for systems, webshops, and digital services. The price was not disclosed (English).

  • CemVision (Stockholm, developing "the world's most resource-efficient cement", founded 2020): €10M ($11M) in a seed funding round co-led by construction-tech focused US-based VC firm Zacua Ventures, and existing investors Polar Structure and Backing Minds. The latter two contributed the largest part of the funding (English, Swedish).
  • Southern Lights (Stockholm; platform to design, simulate and assess the feasibility of green hydrogen projects, founded 2022): €1.6M ($1.7M) in a pre-seed funding round led by Finland-headquartered Greencode Ventures, with participation from Wepa Ventures and Bling Capital.   • Arta Systems (Åre; software solutions that help decision-makers visualize complex data related to food production, distribution, and consumption, founded 2023): SEK1.1M (€100K, $110K) grant from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) (Swedish, machine translation).   • Pale Blue Dot participated in a €4M seed round raised by French startup Pelikan Mobility, which is building a platform and a leasing solution that address challenges caused by the switch to EVs for commercial fleets (English).
