Bootstrapped social media design platform SCRL doubles revenue to €34M

SCRL, a Stockholm-based startup offering a purpose-built social media design platform for creators, doubled its revenue in 2025 to SEK376.5M (€34M, $40M), according to the just released annual report. The year-over-year growth rate accelerated, from 69% previously.

The result after financial items was -SEK5M, compared to -SEK3.2M in 2024.

The company behind SCRL, Appostrophe, was founded in 2016 by Carl Unger and Oskar Larsson. It initially operated as app studio.

In 2021 the founders acquired SCRL for $1M, which since then has become the full focus. According to Breakit, SCRL has been downloaded over 50 million times.

Notably, unlike many other fast growing tech startups, SCRL has not raised any outside funding.
