News from Swedish startups, the tech sector and VCs

  • Supernormal, Stockholm-based startup co-founded by Colin Treseler and Fabian Perez, today launched its productivity tool to easily capture and share online meetings. The company raised $2M in seed funding led by EQT Ventures in December 2020 (English).
  • Skellefteå-based startup Once Upon, founded 2016 by Lina Andersson, launched a web version of its photo book app, thereby becoming "the only company in the photo book industry to create its books seamlessly on different platforms at the same time". The company's mobile app has been downloaded 3 million times so far, 500k times this year (English, Swedish).
  • Sanitation360, based in Visby and founded in 2019, develops technology to convert urine into a dry-fertilizer. The startup is looking to raise its first round of investment (English).
  • Norwegian crowdlending-platform FundingPartner launched on the Swedish market, offering private individuals the chance to invest money in loans for tech startups and real estate projects (Swedish, machine translation).
  • In September the next season of Draknästet (the Swedish version of Dragon's Den) starts. Among the 7 startups that are going to pitch are Ella (healthcare app for women during and after pregnancy), Cresponix (new sustainable tech to farm scampi in cold climate), Dogpark (dogpark operator) and TROOPR (meeting and community app to find and arrange workouts together) (Swedish, machine translation).
  • In the latest ranking of the top 10 unicorn universities in Europe, Stockholm University ranks #3 (10 alumni-founded unicorns, 13 potential future unicorns) and KTH Royal Institute of Technology ranks #5 (9 alumni-founded unicorns, 14 potential future unicorns) (English).
