Funding news

  • Vionlabs (Stockholm, technology for video discovery): SEK20M (€1.9M, $2M) from undisclosed investors (Swedish / DI Digital paywall).
  • AlexisHR (Stockholm, people operations and analytics platform): SEK18M (€1.7M, $1.8M) in a funding round led by Spintop Ventures, with participation from existing investor Alliance Venture (English, Swedish).
  • Plantvation (Sundsvall, automated closed environment cultivation technology): SEK5.8M (€540K, $570K) from Almi Invest and undisclosed angel investors (Swedish, machine translation).
  • In a follow-on investment, EQT Ventures participated in a $80M Series C funding round raised by UK-based AI-powered financial assistant Cleo (English).

News from Swedish startups, the tech sector and VCs

  • iioote, Gothenburg-based IoT platform, was chosen by the Swedish municipality Upplands-Bro to provide IoT-connected meters and sensors with the goal to make the municipality's operations more effective and make data available to the public (English).
  • SeenThis, Stockholm-based creative technology company founded in 2013 offering streaming solutions for digital advertising, won the global luxury goods maker LVMH's 2022 Innovation Award in the category ‘Media and Brand Awareness’ (English, Swedish).
  • Norrsken is looking for a new CEO as Erik Engellau-Nilsson is about to leave the role to take over a still unnanounced new project within the foundation (English, Swedish).

Other interesting things related to Sweden

  • Gothenburg, Sweden's 2nd largest city, and 6 major Nordic banks came up with a loan structure where the city is being charged a fine if it doesn’t meet its climate and social goals. If it does meet them, it will receive a discount on the interest payments (English).
  • Tomorrow, Thursday June 30, IKEA opens its widely anticipated store in central Stockholm, the first "real" IKEA downtown store in Sweden (English, Swedish).
