🥳 Happy New Year! Not that much newsworthy happened in Sweden's startup & tech sector during the past two weeks, so today's email is more compact than usual. But I am throwing in a few charts summarizing Swedish startup funding in 2025!

FUNDING NEWS

Send press releases about funding rounds, and other potentially relevant news, to news@swedishtechnews.com.

Note to first time founders: Raising VC funding is not a goal in itself, and not every company is a fit for it. If you plan to choose that path, make sure to understand the implications.

Sproud (Malmö, producer of an alt-milk drink made from peas): SEK20M (€1.8M, $2.2M) from existing investors (funding details page)

MycoMine (Stockholm, technology that uses living organisms to manage waste): SEK20M (€1.8M, $2.2M) from angel and private investors including Magnus Emilson and Bengt Walerud. Sting also participated (Swedish / Impact Loop paywall). ➡️ Funding first covered in PRO on December 22

Leedflow (Stockholm, automated prospecting & lead generation tool): undisclosed amount in first funding from BLING Capital and angel investors Michel Massadakis and Agniva Debnath (English). ➡️ Funding first covered in PRO on November 4; startup first covered in PRO on August 11

I covered a few unannounced funding rounds, and more details for each, in Swedish Tech News PRO during the past two weeks.

SPECIAL: CHARTS ON SWEDISH STARTUP/SCALEUP FUNDING

The following charts are based on the data I am tracking in the Startup Database by Swedish Tech News. The data includes selected unannounced rounds. PRO subscribers have access to regularly updated charts like these, throughout the year.

Equity funding raised by Swedish startups, by quarter

Number of equity funding rounds by size (2025)

Funding by top sectors (2025)

Dev tech ranks this high because of Lovable's large rounds. Healthtech hits #3 mostly due to Neko Health's $260M Series B round.

Funding raised by AI-native startups (2025)

Funding raised by startups with at least one female founder (2025)

The 2024 share was much higher at 23.3%, due to a few large funding rounds raised by companies with a female founder. When looking at the number of rounds, the share decreased only slightly YoY, from 22.5% in 2024 to 19.5% in 2025.

Labeled funding rounds by stage (2025)
