Mergers & acquisitions

Leapscribe (Umeå; AI assistant that automatically generates medical notes) is being acquired by Nordic eHealth solutions provider Cambio (English). ➡️ Leapscribe first covered in PRO in June 2024.

Studybee (Malmö, developer of a solution for schools and teachers that extends Google Classroom functionality) was acquired by Stockholm-based digital school platform/app Unikum (English).

Finance Lab (Stockholm, platform that monitors and collects data about new share issues in listed companies in the Nordics founded in 2024) acquired Nyemissioner.se (Swedish, machine translation). ➡️ Finance Lab first covered in PRO on October 2.

• The bankruptcy estate of Srenity, Gothenburg-based digital integrations platform for the property sector, has been acquired by the app development agency Third Act (Swedish). ➡️ Bankruptcy first covered in PRO on April 15.

Nordtech, Swedish acquirer of niche software companies, bought the Finland-based company FinMeas (English).

• A major US deal with a Swedish angle: OpenAI buys Jony Ive's hardware company io in a deal worth $6.5B. In late 2024, publicly traded Swedish investment firm Flat Capital invested SEK34M in io (English).

Legora, formerly Leya (Stockholm, AI assistant for legal professionals): The previously rumored Series B round, amounting to $80M led by General Catalyst and Iconiq, has now been announced (English).

Filed (Stockholm & New York; AI tax tool that helps tax firms in the US process 3x more returns without hiring more people): $17.2M combined pre-seed and seed round led by Northzone, with participation from Greens Ventures and various others. With this, Filed emerged from stealth mode (English).

Treyd (Stockholm, buy now pay later platform for trade financing): SEK57M (€5.2M, $5.9M) convertible note from existing investors Nineyards Equity, Zenith VC, and J12 (Swedish / Di Digital paywall).

Find My Factory (Stockholm, AI-driven sourcing and supplier discovery platform): SEK13M (€1.2M, $1.4M) in a pre-seed funding round from existing investor Clas Ohlson Family, new investor Anders Nilsson, and others (English, Swedish / Di Digital paywall).

Ivy (Stockholm; upcoming AI-driven, open-source platform that empowers developers to create customized internal tools-like CRM and CMS systems-in just minutes): SEK10M (€900K, $1M) in pre-seed funding from Luminar Ventures (English). ➡️ Startup first covered in PRO on January 27.

Resemolnet (Gothenburg, AI-powered business system for travel and tour operators): SEK8M (€730K, $830K) in a seed funding round from angel investors (Swedish, machine translation). ➡️ Pitch deck shared in PRO in November 2024.

ProteomEdge (Stockholm, analytical platform for absolute protein quantification using mass spectrometry): SEK7.8M (€720K, $810K) led by Navigare Ventures (English).

Aniara (Stockholm; solution for published authors and rights holders to translate, produce and distribute their works in seven languages on 14 markets): €600K ($670K) in pre-seed funding led by strategic investor Aller Media Nordic (English). ➡️ Startup first covered in PRO in March 2024.

Intric, formerly inooLabs (Stockholm; AI built for government and enterprise): SEK5M (€450K, $520K) in first funding from Swedish entrepreneurs Anton Wass and Daniel Petersen. The company aims to become "Europe's response to Palantir". ➡️ Funding first covered in PRO on April 25.

News from the Swedish startup & tech sector

• Stockholm ranks #3 in Europe and #15 globally in Dealroom's Global Tech Ecosystem Index 2025, which offers benchmarks from 288 tech ecosystems (English).

• A new wave of AI startups is putting Stockholm on the global tech map, creating a potential self-fulfilling prophecy, and FOMO among some foreign investors (English / Sifted paywall).

• Stockholm-based startup MCS Robotics showcased the first version of its autonomous container cleaning robot, which is built together with Dubai-based Micropolis Robotics (English). ➡️ Startup first covered in PRO (under its previous name) on September 17.

Havio Health, a new Stockholm-based startup, has launched its platform to empower doctors with digital health applications. The company is initially focusing on the German market (English). ➡️ Startup first covered in PRO in May 2024.

Direct Carbon, based in Västerås, is set to debut "the world's smallest and most cost-efficient carbon capture system built specifically for indoor growers" (English). ➡️ First covered in PRO in January 2024.

Vässla, Stockholm-based micromobility company which was bought out of bankruptcy in early 2024, is launching an electric moped designed by Teenage Engineering (English).

Ripe, VC-backed Stockholm-based startup offering a data-powered customer engagement platform for B2B SaaS, is shutting down, "after three years, one pivot, countless experiments, and hundreds of thousands in revenue", co-founder and CEO Elin Lütz writes (English).

Alba Health, Stockholm-based provider of digital gut health support for children, will have its own radio show in the UK, reaching "over 1.5 million listeners" (English).

Einride founder Robert Falck is stepping down as CEO to become executive chairman. CFO Roozbeh Charli will take over as CEO. The other founder, Linnéa Kornehed Falck, is leaving her operative role as vice CEO (English). Einride is reportedly preparing for an IPO.

Klarna says it now has 100 million active customers (English).

Northvolt will stop production at its main factory in Sweden in June. The efforts to identify a purchaser of the bankruptcy estate remain ongoing (English, Swedish).

• Spotify co-founder Martin Lorentzon has cashed out a hefty $666M worth of Spotify stock in less than a week (English).

• The submissions for this year's Startup 4 Climate competition are now open. SEK2M are up for grabs for Swedish startups and scaleups that speed up the energy transition (English).

Sting has opened the applications for its fall 2025 program, which for the first time unifies the incubator and accelerator "into a single, high-impact experience" (English).

Nordic Tech Week, the "the world’s first fully open tech conference", will take place September 17-19, 2025 at Kungsträdgården in central Stockholm (English).

• Wework is going to close its last remaining co-working office in Stockholm (and Sweden), at the end of the year (Swedish / Breakit paywall).

Partnerinvest Norr is looking for an Investment Manager in Umeå (Swedish, machine translation).

• The Norrsken Foundation is hiring an Head of Expansion and Strategic initiatives (English).

• Founders don't actually convince investors to invest. They just find investors who don’t walk away when they explain what they are doing (English).

• Smart founders aren’t abandoning ship – they’re “re-founding” their companies around AI (English).

• Stockholm ranks #7 in the Happy City Index 2025, an improvement from #12 last year. Västerås ränks #72, Gothenburg #78, Jönköping #101, Malmö #116, and Eskilstuna #126 (English).

Spotlight, a Swedish stock market, will launch a list exclusively for profitable companies that are growing (Swedish, machine translation).

• Volvo will be the first to install Google’s AI chatbot Gemini in its cars (English).

• At least two Swedes are included in Forbes' annual list of the 100 most powerful women: Anna Borg (#37) and Karin Rådström (#59) (English).

• Swedish and Norwegian police are moving into a joint station, where half of the building is in Sweden and the other half is in Norway (English).

• More than half of Sweden’s 290 municipalities will need to do partial or full shutdowns of preschools in the next five years, due to a steadily declining birth rate (English).
