• Lavendla, Stockholm-based digital provider of funeral services, has bought out its investor Bonnier Capital, paying SEK30M for the 17% stake (Swedish / Breakit paywall).

• Vitec Software Group, Umeå-based publicly listed provider and acquirer of standardized software and SaaS solutions for various niches, acquires 75% of the shares in Autonet, a Dutch platform for used car parts (English).

• MedVasc (Lund, developer of a medical device designed to improve the anesthetic procedure when treating varicose veins): SEK24M (€2.3M, $2.7M) from existing investors (funding details page).

• Roaring (Stockholm; solution helping organizations reduce business risks and combat financial crime by providing reliable company and personal data): SEK20M (€1.9M, $2.3M) from existing investors (funding details page).

• Wayout (Stockholm, developer of a system for local production and distribution of perfect drinking water): SEK20M (€1.9M, $2.3M) from existing investors including Gullspång Re:food, and undisclosed new international investors (Swedish / Impact Loop paywall).

• Fintower (Gothenburg, AI-powered financial planning for CFOs & CEOs): SEK16M (€1.5M, $1.8M) led by Chalmers Ventures and the angel network Akka (Swedish / Breakit paywall). ➡️ Startup first covered in PRO in January 2025.

• EasyStepsGO (Malmö; AI-powered platform that helps organizations turn sustainability requirements into concrete, compliant action): undisclosed amount from Gorilla Capital and angel investors (funding details page).

• Permitify (Sundsvall, tool that simplifies and streamlines the issuance and management of work permits for hazardous work while maintaining safety): undisclosed amount from Almi Invest and one private investor (funding details page).

• Di Digital launched the annual voting for female founder of the year (Swedish) and female investor of the year (Swedish).

• The nominations for NyTeknik's annual list of Sweden's 33 most innovative and promising tech startups are open (Swedish).

• Bricca, initally named Humla, has officially launched, to build the "AI interface for healthcare", centered around a purpose-built wearable. ➡️ Startup covered in PRO on August 18.

• Lavendla, the Swedish digital provider of funeral services, has spun off a startup offering an AI assistant for healthcare professionals named Nila Health (Swedish / Breakit paywall).

• Rebaba, Stockholm-based developer of circular battery systems, has become a selected supplier of battery energy storage systems for OKQ8, one of Sweden's major fuel companies (English).

• The parent company of X Shore has filed for bankruptcy, three months after the Swedish electric boat maker's factory did so (English, Swedish / Di Digital paywall).

• Musselfeed, a foodtech company from western Sweden specialized in transforming blue mussels into sustainable products, is "looking for a safe and long term home for the platform" (English).

• Gilion, Stockholm-based alternative lending provider and growth platform for startups, now offers an agentic platform to investors and banks. Following significant cost cutting, last year, Gilion expects to reach profitability this year (English, Swedish / Di Digital paywall).

• Finance Lab, Stockholm-based platform that monitors and collects data about new share issues in listed companies in the Nordics, has launched Providers.se, a catalog of the tools, services and experts that serve the stock market in Sweden (Swedish, machine translation). ➡️ Startup first covered in PRO in October 2024.

• SonicFlora, Linköping-based startup offering real-time plant health monitoring through ultrasonic sound capture, will pitch at the annual SXSW conference in Austin in March, as the only company from Sweden (English).

• 📺 A flying car from Jetson, Stockholm- & Palo Alto-based eVTOL developer, was featured for a few minutes in a video from YouTube star Mr Beast (English).

• Stark, Germany-based defense tech company backed by Peter Thiel, is opening a Stockholm office (Swedish, machine translation).

• The second annual edition of the Nordic Tech Week will take place September 7-11 in Stockholm (English). ➡️ Added to the Swedish tech event calendar

• Melinda Elmborg and Nino Subotic, the founders of Karaoke Club, published a manifesto outlining how their new startup community and angel network operates, and which founders are a fit (English).

• Alexander Hjertstrom, who just sold Airinum, is becoming a VC, joins Swedish VC firm BackingMinds (English).

• Northzone, European VC firm, has hired Andrea Gazvini as investor for the Stockholm office (English).

• Inventure, Nordic VC firm, has hired Stockholm-based Cristina Koehn as COO (English).

• 24 companies added to the New Startup database

• Last year an under-the-radar music funding provider completed an unannounced Series A round – now details emerged from whom

• A startup that turns enterprise data into autonomous operations, raised first funding from an early Lovable backer

• A stealth startup that wants to help sports teams and leagues sell more merchandise, raised first funding

• A serial entrepreneur founded a new startup, to help financial institutions systematically assess operational risks quantitatively

• A startup offering a co-pilot for VCs is bankrupt

• A highly profitable SaaS scaleup from northern Sweden grew revenue by 25% year-over-year to almost SEK100M
